In diesen besonderen Zeiten gab es einen allgemeinen Konsens, dass die Heimdialyse von den 78% der Patienten mit Nierenversagen, die dazu in der Lage sind, genutzt werden sollte. (1) Vor allem, da Patienten mit Nierenversagen zur Hochrisikogruppe gehören und so weit als möglich soziale Distanzierung praktizieren sollten. Die PD-Behandlung ermöglicht es den Patienten, die Dialyse in der sicheren Umgebung ihres zu Hauses durchzuführen und somit die wöchentlichen Fahrten ins Krankenhaus zu vermeiden.
